<h3> Edy Kennedy<br /> Performing & Media Arts<br /> Blackwood, NJ</h3><p> <strong>What was your favorite class and why?</strong></p><p> I loved Austin Bunn's Screen and Story: Script Analysis because it was the first class that made me watch movies in a way that I will never be able to unsee the process of production for the film.</p>
<p> Beloved emeritus professor and scholar David Bathrick, who taught theater arts, German studies and Jewish studies at Cornell for 20 years, died April 30 at his home in Bremen, Germany. He was 84.</p><p> Bathrick taught and inspired countless students and colleagues over a <a href="https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2007/11/professor-david-bathrick-aka-diablo-retires-germany">colorful and successful career in his chosen fields</a>.</p>
<p> Sophomores in the Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity were supposed to be spending the summer of 2020 living in the House on Roosevelt Island in New York City and taking a special set of classes at Cornell Tech.</p>
<p> Spring 2020 was a semester like no other. Over the course of a few weeks, thousands of classes – lectures and seminars, laboratory and performance courses, capstone projects and veterinary clinics – transitioned entirely online. Instructors navigated technical and logistical difficulties, as well as the shifting realities of a global pandemic. But amid the challenges, students and faculty found opportunities for innovation, connection and intellectual growth.</p>
<p> As a first-generation college student whose family – refugees from Indonesia – arrived in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, when he was only a year old, Malikul Muhamad ’20 credits his teachers and professors with helping him chart a successful course through uncertainty and new experiences.</p>
<p> <a href="https://pma.cornell.edu/austin-bunn">Austin Bunn</a>, associate professor and Koenig Jacobson Sesquicentennial Fellow in the Department of Performing & Media Arts, will take over leadership of the Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity July 1.</p><p> The program, launched in 2017, offers a unique multidisciplinary curriculum to a cohort of 100 students, 25 in each class.</p>
Content has been viewed by alumni from six continents and 77 countries, from the Class of 1937 to the Class of 2020.
<p> Fourteen teams of faculty and community partners have received <a href="https://engaged.cornell.edu/grant/engaged-research-grants/">Engaged Research Grants</a> from the Office of Engagement Initiatives to increase undergraduate involvement in research that strengthens the well-being of communities.</p>

Applications are now being accepted for the third cohort of the Klarman Postdoctoral Fellowships program in the College of Arts and Sciences. The deadline for submission is Oct. 15.
Summer experiences for 151 students in the College of Arts & Sciences were supported by Summer Experience Grants. The grants, which come from alumni donations and a grant from the Student Assembly, help students who have unpaid or minimally-paid positions to pay for summer living expenses.
