Join us for a lunch conversation with Bashar Murkus and Wadie Shahbarat, founding member and creative consultant respectively of Khashabi Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Haifa. They will discuss the theatre space as an arrowhead in urban revitalization and an essential component of a vibrant urban fabric. Moderated by Rebekah Maggor, assistant professor in Cornell’s Department of .

Khashabi Theatre is located in the historic Wadi Salib area of downtown Haifa. Since opening its doors, only two years ago, Khashabi Theatre has become a thriving hub for Palestinain arts and culture in the region. The building has a theatre, exhibit space, a bookstore, library, café, and offices. In addition to housing the Khashabi Ensemble, which produces a season of original theatre productions, the theatre curates and hosts art exhibits, poetry readings, film screenings, lectures, stand-up nights, and visiting festivals and performances.
Bashar Murkus is a Palestinian playwright and director and founding member of Khashabi Ensemble in Haifa.
Wadiye Shahbarat is owner of Fatoosh Café and Bookstore in Haifa and creative consultant on the Khashabi Theatre space.
Rebekah Maggor is assistant professor in the Department of at Cornell University.
