This year’s 10-Minute Play Festival, the sixth annual festival presenting original works by students and members of the Cornell community, features six new plays under the theme "Set: Storied by Space." The plays explore the relationship between environment and storytelling and ask the question, where does authority truly lie?
The festival, directed by Department of PhD student Kelly Richmond and Madeleine Gray ’19 features the work of both undergraduate and graduate student playwrights and directors. Subjects covered in the plays include summer camp, social activism, school assemblies, immigration and deportation, and more. This year’s plays are “A Campfire Song” by Edy Kennedy ’20, “Tian” by Kristi Lim ’21, “The Forever War” by Gloria Oladipo ’21, “Strangers” by Ilana Wallenstein ’21, “Story Bored” by Sydney Wolfe ’20, and “The Shirt (Civility)” by Kristen Wright, graduate student, Africana Studies.
Performances of 10-Minute Play Festival are in the Schwartz Center’s Black Box Theatre September 27 at 7:30 p.m., September 28 at 5:00 p.m., and September 29 at 2:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $5 at schwartztickets.com or at the Schwartz Center box office Monday–Saturday, 1:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
