Playwright Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice finds the goddess of Greek myth trapped in a strange underworld. There Eurydice reunites with her deceased father and must decide whether she will remain with him in the underworld or rejoin husband Orpheus on earth.
A staging of Eurydice serves as the final project for Cornell University students enrolled in the course “Making Theatre: Rehearsal and Production Techniques.” The production, directed by professor David Feldshuh, opens November 11 and runs for two weekends. Eurydice is cosponsored by Cornell University’s Department of and the Feminist, Gender & Sexuality Studies program.
Performances of Eurydice are in the Schwartz Center’s Flex Theatre November 11, 12, 18, and 19, at 7:30 p.m., and November 19 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at schwartztickets.com or at the Schwartz Center box office Tuesday–Saturday, 2:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $15.00; tickets for seniors, students, and Cornell University students, staff, and alumni are $8.00.
