PMA Senior Lecturer Theo Black will be a featured speaker at the Globe4Globe 2025 Symposium on Shakespeare and Environmental Justice. This conference will take place virtually on September 12-13.
“In my talk,” said Black, “I’ll be encapsulating PMA’s BIOphelia performance-symposium project from fall ‘24, with an emphasis on ways we engaged the study of plant medicine and land use in furthering ecological renewal, anti-colonialism, and environmental justice. The talk will also include a look forward, at the one-woman show "BIOphelia" starring PMA alum Amanda Vialva which will be on tour in 2026.”
The Globe4Globe 2025 symposium draws together scholars, practitioners, activists and educators to explore how Shakespeare’s works relate to ideas of environmental justice – historically and in the present. The Symposium will feature voices from across the globe working at the intersection of Shakespeare, performance and environmental justice.
