PMA Assistant Professor Juan Manuel Aldape Muñoz Presents Choreography at Latinx Movement Festival

PMA Assistant Professor Juan Manuel Aldape Muñoz will present his choreography at the 3rd Annual Latinx Movement Festival in Washington, D.C. Performances will take place at Dance Space on October 10–11. He will be sharing a work-in-progress called “Cuidado con el perro.” Related programming includes a talk called “Moving Relations in Latinidad Performance,” at George Washington University on October 9.

“This new piece is a workout session that evolves into an exploration of family, deportation, immigration, and citizenship in the United States,” said Aldape Muñoz. “I am delighted to present my choreography and to talk about its relationship to my written work. This invitation of my artistic and written work on a national stage encourages me to keep these two tandem modes of knowledge production intimately linked. It also affirms the unique voice and perspective that I bring as a humanist and artist to national discussions of contested issues. Dance and performance should be right at the center of those debates.”
