Join us for the second talk in the series Voices & Visions in Black Media as Bambi Haggins (UC, Irvine) speaks on “Problematic Favs: Selective Outrage and the Black Comedians in Contemporary Media." 

Haggins is Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine. She is the author of "Laughing Mad: The Black Comic Persona in Post-Soul America" (Rutgers University Press, 2007).

This talk is part of the Voices & Visions in Black Media speaker series, which surveys the diverse landscape of Black media practices and scholarship, engaging and critically exploring the world of blackness on screen and/or behind the camera. the series features leading scholars in cinema and media studies. 

Voices & Visions in Black Media is organized by Samantha N. Sheppard, the Mary Armstrong Meduski ’80 Assistant Professor of Cinema and Media Studies.

The Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts is located at 430 College Avenue, in the heart of Ithaca's Collegetown.
