Professional Directions with Raelle Myrick-Hodges (Director, Producer, and Curator)

Known simultaneously as a Stage Director for narrative text-based work and a curator of performance, Raelle has work in a myriad of performance environments. She has directed at The Public Theatre, National Black Theater (NY), African-American Shakespeare Company (SF), Theater Minnot (Beirut, Lebanon), Playmakers Repertory (NC), Santa Cruz Shakespeare, Redcat at Cal Arts (Los Angeles), Magic Theater (SF) among others.

As a performance curator, Raelle has produced/presented work with Meshell Ndgeocello, Denis O'Hare (The Illiad), The Rude Mechanicals, including many visual arts works with Mikalene Thomas, Glen Ligon among others. As founder of Azuka Theater in Philadelphia, Raelle created a company from the ground up without formalized/graduate training.

Raelle has only worked in live theater as choice. It is the art form she pursues in process and presentation. She recently presented a newly created work in the Under the Radar Festival (Public, 2020) while currently an adjunct professor in directing with two MFA programs Brown University/Trinity and The Actor's Studio School/Pace University.
