PMA Searching for Visiting Assistant Professor in Cinema Studies

Cornell University’s Department of seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Cinema Studies for a 1.5 year, full-time position beginning January 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2023.

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative scholar with a wide range of interests in cinema studies. The candidate will teach undergraduate students in our major in , which combines theory and practice in film, transmedia, theatre, and dance in unusual and experimental ways. Courses – which uphold and challenge core training in the discipline of cinema and media studies – would include an introductory-level course, a two-course sequence in global cinema, and elective courses in the candidate’s range of interests. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The successful candidate will also engage in the intellectual life of the department beyond its teaching mission, including as a participant in the department colloquium. We are interested in recruiting candidates who demonstrate commitment to the highest standards of scholarship, teaching, and professional activity consistent with a Research I university.
