PMA Professor Austin Bunn will give a public talk called IMAGINE! Dialogues on the Power of the Imagination and the Public Good, on Friday, October 2 at 5:30pm at the Kitchen Theatre. Part of the 25th anniversary celebration for Ithaca City of Asylum, Bunn will be joined by journalist and memoirist (and former Ithaca City of Asylum sponsored artist) Raza Rumi for a conversation about making art, exercising rights, and imagining a better world for all. Moderated by local journalist and co-founder of Story House Ithaca Jonathan Miller.
IMAGINE! is part of the 25th anniversary celebration for Ithaca City of Asylum. Ithaca City of Asylum and Story House Ithaca are projects of the Center for Transformative Action.
"As a writer and filmmaker and teacher, I have seen (and felt) the real-world benefits of imaginative art-making -- inhabiting other perspectives, bringing the past into the present, envisioning potential futures and shaping dramatic conflict toward reconciliation,” said Bunn. “I think storytelling itself is a public good. I'm looking forward to exploring them with two talented makers with their own long histories of creative endeavors that engage the public sphere."
