The Department of Performing and Media Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences will host “An Evening with John Cameron Mitchell,” at 6:30 p.m. March 7.
Mitchell is best known as the writer/director/star of the rock musical and film “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” for which he won a Tony Award for best revival of a musical and a special Tony for his performance; a best director award at the Sundance Film Festival, and a Golden Globe nomination for best actor.
The evening will feature a talkback conversation, moderated by Nick Salvato, professor of performing and media arts. This ticketed event is free and open to the public.
Mitchell, this year’s Carol B. Epstein Guest Artist, Mitchell also directed the improv-based film “Shortbus” (2006); “Rabbit Hole” (2010); and “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” (2017). His TV roles include: “Girls,” “Shrill,” “The Good Fight,” “Mozart in the Jungle,” “Yellowjackets,” “The Sandman,” “City on Fire” and “Joe Vs Carole.” His scripted podcast series include the musical Anthem: “Homunculus” (2019) starring Glenn Close, Cynthia Erivo, Patti Lupone and Laurie Anderson; and “Cancellation Island” (2025) starring Holly Hunter.
