On December 14, PMA Ph.D. Alum Joshua Bastian Cole-Kurz ’22 participated in the virtual book launch for The Methuen Drama Book of Trans Plays, Volume 2. Cole-Kurz contributed a dramaturgical introduction and participated in a live Q&A conversation with one of the anthology editors, Lindsey Mantoan.
The launch was live-streamed on HowlRound and is available to watch here.
Volume 2 features eight plays by trans playwrights that center trans life past, present, and future. Alongside the full scripts—published in the book for the first time—the anthology series also includes a wide range of critical essays that offer deeper insight into the works, the playwrights, and the interventions these plays make within the contemporary theatrical landscape. For this volume, Cole-Kurz is the author of Circling Time: Cercle Hermaphroditos and the Continuum of Trans History, an essay paired with the play Cercle Hermaphroditos, written by Shualee Cook. Cole-Kurz is also a contributing writer for Volume 3 of the anthology, forthcoming in spring 2026.
The Methuen Drama Book of Trans Plays, Volume 2 is available for purchase here.
