PMA Associate Professor Karen Jaime to Give Lecture and Poetry Reading at Bucknell University

PMA Associate Professor Karen Jaime will be giving a public lecture entitled, "Poetic Methodologies: Queer Memory Acts as Theory and Praxis," and perform her original poetry at Bucknell University, as part of their Colonial Entanglements Series. The lecture and reading will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“A former host of the Friday Night Poetry Slam at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, artist-scholar Dr. Karen Jaime discusses how poetry serves as both a site of analysis and a methodological approach. Beginning with her first book, The Queer Nuyorican: Racialized Sexualities and Aesthetics in Loisaida (NYU Press, 2021), Jaime moves between spoken word poetry and critical analysis, placing theory into practice as a liberatory mode of documenting the oft-ignored contributions of queer communities of color.”
