Congratulations to Lindsay Cummings PhD ’11, who recently received tenure and a promotion to associate professor in the University of Connecticut’s Department of Dramatic Arts.
In addition, after serving two years as the associate department head of Courses and Curriculum, Cummings is moving into the position of area head for the BA program in Theatre Studies, one of four undergraduate degree areas in the University of Connecticut’s Department of Dramatic Arts. She also serves as dramaturg for the Connecticut Repertory Theatre, the producing arm of the Department of Dramatic Arts.
Cummings received her PhD from Cornell University’s Department of in May 2011. While at Cornell, she also served for a year as a lecturer in the John S. Knight Institute Writing Workshop.
Her research focuses on affect theory, feminist performance, community-based performance, and theatre for social change. In 2016, Palgrave Macmillan published her book Empathy as Dialogue in Theatre and Performance, an expansion of her Cornell dissertation.
