A&S honors 13 faculty with endowed professorships

Thirteen faculty members in the College of Arts & Sciences were recently honored with endowed professorships approved by the Cornell Board of Trustees, continuing the College’s priority to recognize and support faculty excellence.

“Our faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences are breaking new ground in research across the humanities, social sciences and physical sciences,” said Peter John Loewen, Harold Tanner Dean of the College and professor of government. “I’m glad to recognize their hard work and dedication, as well as their commitment to teaching excellence, with these professorships.”

The professorships are made possible because of gifts from alumni, parents and friends. Those gifts allow the College to replace retiring faculty, recruit stellar new faculty and recognize and retain mid-career and senior faculty to provide leadership across the disciplines and in areas of strategic importance.
