Applied theater, environmental justice, and civic engagement come together in this interdisciplinary PMA course (PMA 4825/6825, Spring 2018). Students will work with residents of Tompkins County to create a Living Newspaper, a type of multi-media performance, about the human impact of global warming on the Finger Lakes. We will craft the script through academic research, interviews, and Story Circles, a form of community-based dialogue. The class will stage the play on campus and across the region. No previous theatrical experience or scientific expertise is necessary to take part in the course.
