The Department of Performing & Media Arts is seeking two talented female or female-identifying vocalists to join an innovative and thought-provoking UK dance theatre production titled “Suitcases," by Hit The Ground Running Dance Theatre Company.
This immersive performance explores themes of mental illness, identity, and belonging through a compelling combination of dance, storytelling, and powerful vocal expression.
Audition Details:
- Role: Vocalist (female/female-identifying)
- Performance Piece: Delivery of two songs a Capella
- Location: Kiplinger Theatre, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts
- Date & Time: Monday, October 26, 7:30 pm
- Email Professor Bruce Levitt at bal5@cornell.edu to sign up for a specific time
- Preparation: Please prepare and be ready to perform "Down To The River And Prey” and “Auld Lang Syne” a cappella during the audition. You may choose to perform the song as it is or bring your own interpretative touch, but the performance should be without accompaniment.

What We're Looking For:
- Strong vocal ability and control
- Expressive storytelling through singing
- Ability to connect emotionally with the material
- Confidence in performing acapella
- Willingness to engage with the themes of mental illness,identity, and resilience
Rehearsals & Commitment:
Selected artists will be involved in rehearsals leading up to the production, with performance dates scheduled for (April 16 & 17, 2027)
Rehearsals will take place beginning March 8th to 13th—preliminary) with final rehearsals beginning April 12th.
