Cornell Ambassadors for Media and Performance (CAMP) and Graduate Researchers in Media and Performing Arts (GRMPA) are seeking proposals from directors, facilitators, choreographers, musicians, filmmakers, experimental artists, and any other interested participants for a (virtually) collaboratively crafted performance to be offered October 29–31, 2020, as part of Cornell’s Department of (PMA) 2020–2021 performances and events.
Using non-traditional models of theater-making, “Virtual Vibrance: Making, Shaking, Breaking Performance” seeks proposals from artists who want to create a performance with one or more collaborators. Performances may be live, filmed in advance, or combine pre-recorded and live video. Performances may include scripted material, radio plays, improvisation, mixed media, dance, music, lecture, devised projects, walking tours, and anything else that breaks convention and uses the virtual platform in interesting ways.
Examples of potential collaborations:
- Director and playwright (on a new or previously written script)
- Choreographer and dancer(s) (on a new or adapted piece)
- Filmmakers and actors
- Composer and musician(s)
- Devised projects (created with two or more artists)
We aim to support projects that are civically minded, with one or more of the collaborators BIPOC identified. Preference will be given to undergrad-led projects (although collaborators can be graduates, faculty, community members, etc). You will be given a small budget of $500 (grant pending) and one dedicated graduate producer to mount your production. First-time artists and theatre-makers with strong ideas encouraged to apply! Proposals are due Friday, September 4th (anytime). Application: https://forms.gle/dymbzEdKm2Crx8cc7
The proposal is not meant to be a barrier to participate, simply a vehicle to tell us what you want to do! Having a certain level of uncertainty as to how you will accomplish the project is expected. You will be supported! If you have any questions please email Jayme Kilburn: jlk355@cornell.edu.
