Amanda Idoko '10 makes Young & Hungry List of Hollywood’s 100 Top New Writers

Congratulations to alumna Amanda Idoko ’10, who has been named as one of The Tracking Board’s 2017 Young & Hungry List of Hollywood’s 100 Top New Writers!

“I’ve been writing non stop and hustling out here, so it felt great to be recognized for something I’ve worked so hard on. I’m excited to keep going and for my words to reach a larger audience,” says Amanda, “I just finished writing my second feature and I’m currently working on The Mayor.”

On Amanda’s profile, The Tracking Board states that, “Prior to [working on The Mayor], she worked on the staffs of The Goldbergs and Imaginary Mary. She is a first-generation Nigerian American who grew up in the Bronx as one of seven kids raised by a single mother. She got her start as a writer's assistant on Bones and then was accepted into the Disney ABC Writing Program.”

Amanda was one of three women writers selected for the year-long Disney|ABC Writing Program, to have secured staff jobs on series for the 2016–17 television season. The program, launched in 1990, is considered to be one of most prestigious and successful writer programs in the business.

Amanda also co-founded a company called Two Fro productions.

While at Cornell, Amanda had the title role in Alice and Wonderland and starred in The Body Project and God’s Ear. She was also a member of Whistling Shrimp, Cornell’s oldest comedy group.

In 2010, her play Punching Glass was selected for the Manhattan Repertory Theatre One Act Play Series and was staged later that same year.

Cornell PMA Professor Sara Warner states that, “Amanda is brilliant and funny and was an utter joy to have in class. We hope to bring her back to campus next year as part of our Professional Directions series.”
