Climates of Change

Climates of Change

A Living Newspaper Play
Co-directed by Sarah K. Chalmers, Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr., and Cornell PMA PhD student Caitlin Kane

Created in collaboration with the community and developed by students of the Department of Performing and Media Arts’ Theatre and Social Change class co-taught by Sara L. Warner and Simmons, Jr.

The play is created from stories told by various communities throughout Tompkins County about global warming: the controversies, the science, the economic impacts, and the different ways this crisis affects diverse populations.

Delivered in the style of a Living Newspaper, a theatrical form popularized during the Federal Theatre Project of the 1930s, this project is funded by a grant from Engaged Cornell and created in collaboration with climatologist Toby Ault.
