A Conversation with Broadway Director Sam Gold '00 will be on Saturday, March 24, 2018, 7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. in the Schwartz Theatre, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. Professor David Feldshuh (Cornell Performing and Media Arts) will facilitate the talk.

Gold is the 2015 Tony Award-winning Best Director for the musical "Fun Home". He won a 2010 Village Voice Obie Award for Best Director for his work on the Off-Broadway plays "Circle Mirror Transformation" at Playwrights Horizons and "The Aliens" at Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre.

While at Cornell University, Gold was an active performer and director, participating in the then-Department of Theatre, Film and Dance's Advanced Undergraduate Theatre Program his senior year.

Gold's visit is possible thanks in part to an alumni gift from the family of James H. Becker, a 1917 graduate of the College of Arts & Sciences. The Becker Grant, established in 1976, helps departments within the College of Arts & Sciences bring alumni to campus to share their experiences with students.

Then, on Sunday, March 25, an Audition Workshop will be held from 10-11:30am in the Class of '56 Dance Theatre, Schwartz Center, at which Gold will give feedback on 12 student auditions. This event is free and open to the public.

The Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts is located at 430 College Avenue in Ithaca.
