Mr. Burns, a post-electric play begins with eight friends gathered around a fire trying to recall the plot from The Simpsons' episode "Cape Feare." As they slowly piece together the story, it is revealed that they are escaping from the nuclear fallout of an unnamed apocalyptic event.

Seven years after the first scene, the same group has created a pop culture theater troupe in the remains of a decaying civilization.

Ultimately, Mr. Burns is a critique of capitalism and a reminder of the indelible effect of stories (wherever they may be found).

The Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts is located at 430 College Ave. in Ithaca.
