Mini Locally Grown Dance, Dec. 5–7

This year’s performances of “Mini Locally Grown Dance” (MLGD), December 5–7 from Cornell University’s Department of (PMA), feature nine pieces choreographed by Cornell students, faculty, and guest artists.

The annual concert, directed by PMA senior lecturer Byron Suber, gives dance faculty the opportunity to present excerpts from longer-form pieces and provides a showcase for dance composition students’ original choreography.

The 2019 presentation of MLGD also features the contributions of professional dancers Florian Lochner and Ayo Janeen Jackson, who visited PMA this semester as guest-artists-in-dance through the generous gift of Cheryl Whaley and Eric Aboaf. While at PMA, Lochner and Jackson collaborated with students, in part to develop their performances for MLGD.

“Mini Locally Grown Dance” is December 5–7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Class of ’56 Dance Theatre, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $7 at schwartztickets.com or at the Schwartz Center box office, 1:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., Monday–Saturday. The Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts is located at 430 College Avenue in Ithaca.
