The Department of at Cornell University seeks a visiting assistant professor of design for a one-year appointment with possible renewal for a second year contingent on department needs and successful teaching in the first year, beginning on July 1, 2019, with presence on campus required no later than mid-August.
Primary expertise should be in lighting design; secondary expertise in projection design, video design, and/or scene design is highly desirable. Salary commensurates with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating lighting designs for a minimum of four productions including one dance performance each year; teaching two courses per semester in lighting design and in other areas of the candidate’s expertise; supervising and mentoring student designers; and participating in departmental service. Successful candidates will have an MFA, design experience in both professional and university settings, and experience teaching design at the university level.
Currently, 24 faculty and 13 staff collaborate to offer BA and PhD degrees in that provide opportunities for students to study and explore across the disciplines of theatre, film, and dance. We present live and mediated events in five different performance spaces. Our department is committed to the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity.
