Propose a special event
The Department of Performing and Media Arts has identified dates when space at The Schwartz Center may be available for special events. These might include student-initiated “explorations"; film screenings/festivals; artistic installations; guest artist performances and workshops; lectures by scholars, artists, performers, and entertainment industry professionals; academic conferences and symposia; receptions; and special events.
The available dates for the 2017–2018 academic year are as follows:
Kiplinger Theatre: October 27, March 4
Flexible Theatre: December 3, February 2–4, 9–11, March 4, 9–11, April 14
Film Forum: October 13–14, 20–21, December 3, February 2–4, 9–11, March 4, 9–11, 24–25
In addition to the weekend dates listed above, it may be possible to accommodate weekday requests for use of the Film Forum.
Due to extensive PMA programming, the other performance venues (Black Box Theatre and Class of ’56 Dance Theatre) are not available for special events.
To apply for one of these openings, use the Schwartz Center Space Use Request form. Depending on the type of event and the level of technical and staff support required (lighting, sound, projection, costume, catering, etc.), a facility use fee may be charged.
You must fill out the Cornell University Event Registration form for any proposed event to be held in the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts.
Cornell sororities and fraternities are no longer permitted to use space in the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts.
Event use of the outdoor Schwartz Center Plaza is restricted and permission must be granted through a space use request.
The Performing and Media Arts chair and manager reserve the right to veto any events they feel may be problematic to the department or its residents.
