Invitation for Participation

PMA Spring 3609: Making Theatre

3 Credits

A call for acting students interested in a performance experience to participate in our Spring production.

Co-directed by PMA Professor Beth Milles and PMA graduate Carley Robinson ’20

Students will read and rehearse the work of Dominique Morriseau, Ike Holter, Lydia Diamond, and others.

3609 is a hybrid class. We are hoping to hold some of the rehearsals in person following COVID restriction guidelines. It is not mandatory for you to be in person to participate.

Special interest in working with Artists of Color—all the works covered will be written by BIPOC playwrights.

We will be presenting the work in a hybrid format as a live radio play and a Zoom reading.

Class meeting: once a week at a mutually agreed upon time.

Rehearsals:

  • Evenings, March 15–May 1
  • 3–5 days/week
  • Zoom rehearsals are limited to 2 hr/day
  • In-person rehearsals may go longer than 2 hours but won’t exceed 3 hours.
  • Rehearsals will be staggered; no one will be called all the time.
  • We will not rehearse on Wellness Days

Performances: The work will be presented to the public online May 7–8.

To participate, write to Beth by Monday, Feb. 15, at bfm6@cornell.edu to express your interest. She will set up a time to meet with you. You are also welcome to submit a video of yourself presenting a monologue or telling a story but this isn’t required.

OR

Please create a folder in your Cornell Box account named “YOUR NAME + 3609” (for example, “Howard Klein 3609”).  Share this folder with hsk59@cornell.edu as EDITOR so we can download your submission (Howard Klein, Stage Manager, PMA).

We welcome your questions.
