Submit proposals for 2015-16 productions!

Deadline: Oct 22, 2014.

PMA is now accepting proposals for student performances and events for its 2015-16 Calendar until October 22, 2014. There will be a student forum on October 2, 2014 at 4:30pm in the Black Box, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts, 430 College Ave, to learn more about the process.

Each fall the Performance & Events Committee of Cornell’s Department of Performing and Media Arts selects a series of projects for its yearly calendar of performances and events. We encourage the production of works that demonstrate artistic excellence and that are pedagogically responsible as an extension of the Department curriculum. Project proposals may include theatrical productions, experimental work, dance performances, film screenings/festivals, artistic installations, guest artist performances and workshops, lectures by scholars, performers, and entertainment industry professionals, academic conferences and symposia, special events – any creative, pedagogically challenging, and rigorously disciplined work that advances the educational and artistic mission of the department. The committee’s goal is to put together an academic year’s series of events and presentations in the Schwartz Center that creates the greatest impact on the artistic, intellectual, and pedagogical goals of PMA, while enhancing the department’s reputation for excellence in all its endeavors through an engagement with its students, its audiences, the University and the community.

The mission of the Performance and Events Committee is to select those projects and events that provide opportunities for artistic excellence, responsible learning, informed experimentation, and rigorous engagement with diverse aesthetic, cultural, and historical traditions.
