When: March 6 at 4:45 p.m.
Where: Film Forum, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts
Join us for a reading and panel discussion of Rebekah Maggor's new book, Tahrir Tales: Plays from the Egyptian Revolution on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 4:45 p.m. in the Film Forum, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts.
The ten plays in this collection, co-edited and co-translated with Mohammed Albakry, trace the unfolding events in Egypt from the last years of Hosni Mubarak’s regime through Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s ascendance to the presidency. They offer unique grassroots perspectives on the jubilation, terror, hope, and heartbreak of mass uprising.
Rebekah Maggor is an assistant professor in the Cornell Department of Performing and Media Arts.
Panelists are Deborah Starr (Near East Studies) and Ziad Fahmy (Near East Studies), with performances by PMA faculty member Carolyn Goelzer and students Priscilla Olympia, Michael Southworth, and Mwangi Thuita.
This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow. The Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts is located at 430 College Avenue in Ithaca.
